When a child is born in Indian houses, parents start planning for the child’s education and also charting the career, for the child. There are many houses wherein the child is not allowed to make his/her own career decisions which make us wonder if our country has really progressed. You will still find some parents who want their children to become a doctor, engineer, complete a doctorate and so on. They are still hesitant if their child shows a keen interest towards sports, music or dance. For them, that is the end of the world. But are they ready to shell out money, for these ambitious career courses? The admission fees for courses like medicine, engineering, dentistry are have sky rocketed that it makes you wonder if middle class people can afford it. They take educational loans and other financial institutions. After that, parents struggle to repay the loans and this leaves them with little or no savings for their retired life.
There is a dearth of good, devoted teaching staff in most of the reputed colleges and universities. Because of the poor pay structure, so many posts are vacant. Although the government has revised the pay structure, it is not enough to cover the rising cost of inflation. Due to this, the students are deprived of proper education from the devoted teaching staff. The qualified teachers prefer teaching in private institutions where the pay is much higher.
Politics has found its way in the colleges and universities also. Reservation imposed by the government in all colleges with respect to the teaching staff and students is still a debate as to whether it has improved the education quality or deteriorated it further.
